Community Services

Community ServicesMaking things better before they get worse

The Community Services Team provides a range of community based services to support children, young people, families and vulnerable adults when they are facing a crisis and have nobody else to turn to. We support people experiencing difficulty in coping with family life and social situations and work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies to co-ordinate and deliver a program of focused interventions. . We are committed to a multi-disciplinary approach to provide an effective and focused client-led service.

Our services are generally provided in the clients' own homes and focus on empowering them to make a positive difference to their lives.

Throughout the course of a year the Community Services team will work with over 2,000 people in the Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Cotswold districts.

What makes this service so successful is the contribution made by our volunteers, who each work on average 2 hours each week.

Our range of services is targeted to specific age groups and circumstances and includes:

Appropriate Adult Scheme

Appropriate AdultThis scheme provides trained volunteers who act as "Appropriate Adults" to 10 - 16 year olds whose parents cannot, or will not, attend whilst their children are held in Police custody. The scheme is also available to adults with mental health or learning difficulties. It operates at various custody suite locations across Gloucestershire. The Appropriate Adults are often the first meaningful support these vulnerable people have when they find themselves in contact with the Criminal Justice System.

Family Support

Family SupportCCP's team of experienced family support staff provide intensive one-to-one support to families in their own homes. Typically, our clients will have older vulnerable children who are outside the remit of CCP's Early Years befriending scheme and they will be supported in a variety of family oriented activities. Our support workers will help the family by developing parenting strategies as well as liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies to provide a package of ongoing support.

Floating Support

Floating SupportThe Floating Support Service is provided across Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and the Cotswolds to anyone aged 16 to 59 who is experiencing difficulties that may result in loss of their tenancy. An experienced Support Coordinator will work with each client to plan a series of actions aimed at resolving any problems relating to income, employment, mental health, substance abuse etc that may ultimately lead to them losing their homes. The Support Coordinator can also advise on a range of issues from welfare benefits advice to good neighbour relations - all aimed at promoting independence and a happy, healthy, safe and secure lifestyle.
