Providing emergency food parcels across Gloucestershire

CCP Food Share is an emergency food distribution service for people and families in times of crisis. These are generally ordinary people who suddenly find themselves facing poverty and hunger due to loss of salary, change in benefits, unexpected large bills, illness or family breakdown. The CCP Food Share scheme provides food parcels to cover the immediate crisis or to give support in the intervening period before statutory agencies can begin ongoing longer term assistance.

CCP Food Share relies on donations from members of the public, churches, schools and businesses. Over 500 food parcels are distributed every year from Cheltenham1st Stop and through the network of CCP Community Services support coordinators working throughout Gloucestershire.

The Hamper Scamper - Christmas Giving Scheme

Christmas is always seen as a special time of year, but this is not the case for many children, families and vulnerable adults in Gloucestershire. The expense and expectation can place a real strain on disadvantaged families with low incomes or extreme family circumstances, and many lone adults miss out on the festivities simply because they have nobody to care about them this at this time of year.

The Food Share scheme is extended at Christmas to become the "Hamper Scamper". This is aimed at  providing Christmas food hampers and gifts to disadvantaged families and individuals. Most of the gifts and food are supplied by local people, churches and businesses in Gloucestershire, and every year, CCP mobilises a small army of staff, students and volunteers to sort, wrap and distribute over 160 hampers and 300 gifts in the run up to Christmas.
