Bramah House

BramahA Direct Access Assessment Unit for homeless 16-25 year olds.

Purpose

Bramah House is a secure High Support, Direct Access Assessment Unit for 16-25 years olds who are either homeless or facing housing crisis. There are 10 individual fully furnished rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Residents share the use of a kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry room. This provides the optimum balance between independence and communal living and helps young people to adapt to their new surroundings during crucial stages in their life. Most will have lived a chaotic lifestyle prior to moving into Bramah and many exhibit challenging behaviour. Emphasis is placed on structure and routine, both to create a sense of care and security and to prepare young people for the difficult transition to independent living. The ethos of Bramah House is to create an environment which focuses on meeting the physical, emotional, social, cultural and aspirational needs of the individual.

Staffing and Support

Bramah is permanently staffed 24 hours per day. All residents have an allocated Support Coordinator who is responsible for assessing their long term housing and support needs, leading to the implementation of an agreed Personal Housing and Support Plan. This portable support package makes use of external specialist service providers and avoids longer term dependency on CCP.

Resettlement and Move On

Bramah House is a short term assessment unit and therefore a Resettlement Plan must begin by the second week of residence. The typical length of stay is 4 to 12 weeks, though exceptions will be made when awaiting accommodation in a specialist unit such as detoxification or mental health.

Residents can move from Bramah House to other CCP supported accommodation or, if appropriate, independent housing.
