The Early Years Befriending scheme uses staff and volunteers
to work with families with children from birth to age 5 whose family
circumstances make them vulnerable.
Befrienders offer emotional support, advocacy, signposting
to other voluntary and statutory services, hand-holding, practical assistance
and parenting skills. The scheme has the Governments "Every Child Matters"
principles at its heart and our staff and volunteers are constantly working to enforce
its five key principles:

- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well-being
